Did you ever feel that the world is against you?
Even if you try to work hard, at the end of the day you feel like you didn’t accomplish anything and get stressed out about it. You feel like you need a break, a fast natural way to relax for 10 minutes in any room you can think of. If you get the same thots similar to what I said above then meditation can be a cure to them.
I was in the same rabbit hole as many other people I tried many things to relax from a hard day of work. From video games, watching Netflix, and looking at videos on YouTube these things helped me for the moment but it became obvious that they were making my brain think that is relaxing but in reality, they just made me worse. Until one day someone recommended me to meditate. That was one of the best choices of my life that I take that will improve not just my mental health but all the things about me.
Now this blog will give you answers to some of the most important questions that you might have about meditation If you think that I missed something or just have a question about some topic please leave a comment and I will give you feedback about it.
Now that you know my story I will tell you what I learn throughout my meditation journey.
The basics
If you want this to help you the most important thing that you first need to do is to believe that this will help you. For example, if you think this is just a waste of your time you will want to do it just to be done. It won’t have any effect on your life. So for your first step on this journey believe in the process and then you will see the rewards.
Remember why you are doing this. Is it for someone that you love? a friend, a family member. You might do it just for your health if that’s the case just remember that you’re doing this for yourself. If you associate the sessions of mediation with something then I will be more likely that you won’t forget to do it. It worked for me then It will work for you.
One last tip that I can give you is that you need to tell as many people, as you can that you meditate at X hour. You can even tell a family member to come at a certain moment and ask you if you meditated today. In this way, you will stay consistent.
Where you should start
Now that you have prepared for the session is time to know what you will do in that 10-minute meditation session. First, of we need a quiet room where you will meditate it needs to be quiet enough so you can hear your thots and it needs to be close to dark or even dark (is not a problem if is in the middle of the day just make sure is the light is not flashing in your face).
If you are a beginner I recommend you install Medito is my favorite app that has a beginner course and daily meditation sessions for anyone. I have used the app for more than 2 years and It helped me develop my way of meditating. You can take a look and see for yourself.
At one point you will get advanced and you will feel that you can’t do anything on the app (because you finish most of the things). Then you can make your sessions as much and sophisticated as you like. For more advanced people meditation books like 10% Happier by Dan Harris and The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. ( you can find more self-improvement books on this blog)
What time of the day you should meditate
This is a question that I have had for some time. I found that the best time I can meditate is before sleep at that moment I am the most relaxed and most consistent. I try to do it in the morning ( most people say that is the best period to meditate), but I couldn’t manage to do it my body knew that was not the right time. You have to experiment and try to do it in the morning and the next day at night or you might like to do it in the middle of the day. That is the choice that you have to make.
One way of meditation that I never tried was group meditation. Medito (the app from before) is doing some meditation meetups where they give people the choice to come and meditate with a professional. If you are a group person you might want to go to one.
Conclusion
That is all I think you need to begin your journey if you get into any problem along the way please let me know by writing a comment. I hope that more people will try to read this blog and get the knowledge that they need to evolve, for you the one who has read this post you just evolved and got better in the game of life, and remember “Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.”
